Development of Eurelian-Eurelian models to simulate the Sorption-Enhanced Steam Reforming process

The main objective of the research project is to evaluate, through laboratory tests and numerical simulations, the technical and economic potential of new sorbents / CaO-based catalysts to be used for the process of Sorption-Enhanced Reforming using fluidized bed reactors for the simultaneous capture of CO2 and steam reforming of hydrocarbons.

In particular, the grant recipient must develop models and performed numerical simulations of the two fluidized bed reactors (reactor Sorption-Enhanced Reforming and Regeneration), by means of CFD Eulerian-Eulerian. In these models the solid phase (sorbent / catalyst) and gas (reaction gas) will be considered as a continuum, and each of which must be applied its own set of Navier-Stokes equations. According to this theory, the different stages will be present at the same time in the same computational volume.

Eligibility criteria

PhD in Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Production Engineering and Graduate Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Old Order in Mechanical Engineering or / Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering (LM22) or Mechanical Engineering (LM33), each accompanied by a curriculum scientific and professional for the conduct of research in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics and simulation of advanced processes and innovative energy systems.

The candidate must also possess a good knowledge of the most common CFD codes used for multiphase flows such as Fluent / MFIX / Comsol, the high-level procedural languages ​​(Fortran and C), operating systems, Unix / Linux and management systems parallel Computing for High Performance Computing (HPC)
