Within the theoretical background of the Theory of Event Coding, assuming a unique representational system between perception and action, the role of motor experience for temporal representation will be explored. ln particular it will be investigated how temporal representation due to motor experience can facilitate both discrimination of rhythms associated with movement and sensorimotor synchronization. The sample will be composed by expert tap dancers, who will be exposed to auditory rhythms associated with their own movements, with other dancers’ movements, or to neutral rhythms. ln one experiment participants will discriminate between temporal errors of rhythms, in another one participants will synchronize with rhythms.
