the expression of proteins involved in pathways related to the major pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases will be investigated in in vivo systems in order to find possible markers of UFP-induced diseases; UFP from two different sources will be tested. Since inflammation in lungs can impair ventilation and cause pulmonary hypertension followed by hypoxia, the involved interleukins expression will be examined, as well as the markers affecting the vascular system and the heart, through the blood circulation. In mice, the biological effects produced by the two UFP sources on lung and hearth will be analyzed to directly relate the expression of the selected markers with the final outcomes in the organism.
