Trait mapping with multi-founder populations (MAGIC) can detect multiple quantitative trait loci (QTL) interacting across traits and environments, and locate these to small genetic intervals. MAGIC populations have been used successfully for these purposes in model species (e.g. Arabidopsis) though work on crops is less advanced.
