The subject of the research activity is the study of parton structure of the nucleon through measurements of hadron production in deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) in the COMPASS experiment at CERN. lt is focused on the extraction of the transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (the TMD PDFS, which include the Boer-Mulders function) by measuring the asymmetries in the azimuthal distributions of hadrons produced in SIDIS. The research program mainly consists in a detailed study of the dependence of azimuthal asymmetries in SIDIS on the relevant kinematic variables, to be performed both with dedicated analysis of the COMPASS data and by using the results from other experiments. The collaboration with theoreticians will help in reaching the final goals, namely to distinguish the different effects, ¡dentify the contributions of the different TMD PDFS to the cross section, and possibly extract TMD PDF.
