The research project aims to investigate the role of coastal dunes in different morphodynamic contexts. The study will focus on the morphological relationship between beach and dune, together with the mutual sedimentary budget, both in natural and anthropogenic coastal sites, also subject to nourishment interventions and reconstruction of the dunes. The dataset will consist of existing coastal geographic information systems, which will be appropriately integrated with updated and/or newly collected data. Specific indicators will be developed and proposed for the theme.
Emphasis will be devoted to trasngressive dunes, both in terms of morphology and definition-quantification of the aeolian transport. These analysis will be functional to the identification of the best practices aimed at the nourishment or restoration of beaches suffering erosion.
