The project concerns the development of devices for the detection of the forces that develop during the manipulative function of the hand and the integration of information obtained into a dynamic musculoskeletal model able to reproduce the complex movements of the hand and to simulate the effects of alterations of motor control. The goal is to define the structural features of a prosthetic hand interfaced with the subject amputated at the upper limb and to define the key design criteria of a control system that uses biological signals taken from the subject and is able to send sensory signals feed-back to the same subject. The project will also include the study of motor programs and appropriate control strategies.
