The goals of the research program concern the development of analysis techniques for audio and acoustic signals coming from contact accelerometers and arrays of measurement microphones, with applications to the evaluation of quality of musical instruments.
The first phase of the work consists of the development of solutions for analyzing vibrational signals and the development of vibrational models for soundboards. The second phase will be devoted to the development of space-time processing techniques based on arrays of measurement microphones. As part of this research, the relationship between geometric and vibrational properties; and the radiance pattern of the musical instrument; will be explored. Finally some activities will be devoted to studying solutions for reproducing soundfields using arrays of loudspeakers.
