Modeling, simulation and design of mechanical systems for the steelmaking industry - Ref. 262/2013

This program is aimed at developing some methodologies for the structural design of solid elements of machines and equipments for steelmaking operation. The whole steelmaking process in analysed, from the reduction of primary materials or shredding of metallic scrap, to the electric arc furnace operation for melting, hot and cold rolling, then to the final storage of billets, strips and wires upon rolls. The goal is investigating more deeply the dynamic behavior of the steelmaking systems during the whole process. Numerical methods aimed at identifying some critical operating conditions of those equipments and machines will be developed to define the most sensitive design parameters to be optimized.
