This research program is aimed at developing theoretical understanding and engineering tools to model both numerically and experimentally complex heat and mass transfer. The grantee will cooperate to model the following process classes: (i) flows in forced convection trough channels with specially configured walls; (ii) single-phase and multi-phase flows inside equipments of different sizes; (iii) thermal analysis of industrial components; (iv) fire reaction tests on building materials; (v) radiative heat exchange inside cavities with complex geometry, and surface radiative properties within the UV-VIS-NIR range of the spectrum.
The grantee shall be endowed with excellent knowledge in heat and mass transfer as well as in fluid dynamics; he shall be experienced both in numerical methods for fluid dynamic and in thermal experimental measurements; finally, he shall know IR-thermographic.
