GaN-based LEDs: thermal, electrical and optical characterization

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The goal of the project is to characterize the thermal, electrical and optical properties of LEDs based on GaN for application in lighting.

More specifically, the candidate will:

1. Acquire different sets of commercial samples and experimental prototypes for subsequent analysis

2. Study the thermal characteristics of LEDs, mounted on suitable heat sinks; study of the effectiveness of the interface materials (TIM1 and TIM2) in defining the overall thermal resistance of the LED3

3. Study of optical properties of the LED; quantification of the efficiency droop; evaluation of the dependence of the wall plug efficiency on constructive parameters and bias conditions

4. Optical analysis of the different sets of acquired samples; identification of the optimal conditions for light extraction; design of proper lenses to improve the light extraction and beam shaping

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
