The evaluation of structures’ impacts represents a relevant theme among the context of sustainability in concrete market.
This project has the main objective to analyse innovative solutions for the production of construction materials and for construction technologies, which have to comply the requirements of environmental and economic sustainability, by means of life cycle assessment (LCA) tool. A specific task will provide the analysis of recycled materials, such as the application of aggregates coming from construction and demolition wastes and metallurgical slags.
A multi-disciplinary methodology is required, in order to take into account the economic and environmental costs linked to the structural applications of those techniques/materials. A preliminary identification of the correct functional unit has to be performed, thus allowing the comparison between the same mechanical/durability/serviceability of the alternative solutions identified.
