Development of an ICT infrastructure for supporting a social fall application as part of a telemedical service

Please note that the job is no longer active!

Falls are a leading cause of injury-related death in older persons. One of the current approaches to prevent and care elderly people from falls is devoted to the real time detection of falls and their urgent communication to a telecare center. Today’s smartphone not only serves as the key computing and communication mobile device of choice, but it also comes with a rich set of embedded sensors enabling new applications. A smartphone is capable of becoming a mobile front-end for telemedical services like fall detection and/or fall prevention programs. The objective of the research project is to establish a service that is triggered as a response to a real fall that will provide immediate assistance to the person. An Android application prototype needs to be extended with a robust back-end solution. A synchronization module needs to be developed. The final system must be tested in real life settings involving elderly users and caregivers.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
