Task switching in high level robot control

Please note that the job is no longer active!

High level robot control is about the robot ability to accomplish autonomously complex missions. We are specifically interested in Rescue Robot missions, in which the robot can safely substitute operators and free them from the burden of facing high risk situations. This project is the core of the two European projects NIFTi and TRADR, this last to be initiated in November 2013. While executing a task the robot is subject to thousands of stimuli induced by both its inner state and by the perception of the outer world, and possible operator instructions. At each stimulus the robot has to make a decision, namely accepting the stimulus and respond to it or to possibly delay the response, according to the mission urgency. Modelling this stimulus-response behaviour is extremely complex because it requires to provide an articulated learning model that can provide a representation of all these data: the stimuli, the processes that the robot executes up to the response.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
