The successful candidate will perform simulation activity by advanced ab-initio methods, of fundamental properties of low-dimensional systems (oxide surfaces, interfaces, and heterostructures) whose functionalities are suited for innovative applications of microelectronics, spitronics, and/or energy harvesting technology. Particular focus will be placed to systems with 2-dimensional charge confinement properties (2DEG), possibly magnetics, with our without chemical doping, where current can be efficiently controlled by electric gate field (field-effect), magnetic field (magnetoresistance), strain field (electromechanical switching).
