There is no consensus in the literature on the structure of working memory in children.
The present project includes two parts: A) investigate in children: 1) the structure of working memory; 2) the structure of intelligence, in particular the division into fluid and crystallized intelligence components; 3) the relationship between different aspects of intelligence and working memory. B) investigate individual differences between high and low working memory capacity in working memory tasks in which the categorical organization of the material is manipulated.
The candidate should have experience in programming with E-Prime 2 and data analyzing using LISREL (or other software dedicated to structural equation modeling). Moreover, an advanced knowledge on multivariate statistics and on structural equation modeling is required. Finally, a research experience in the working memory and in the intelligence fields is needed.
