Fisheries activities impact on coastal habitats in many ways; this project aims to estimate the ecological and economic effects of some concrete measures to restore and improve the biodiversity in particularly interesting habitats such as those located in the northern Adriatic rocky habitats, areas characterized by high biodiversity richness. Specifically the general aim is to estimate the economic value of the ecosystem benefits resulting from those recovery measures. The calculation of the economic value of ecosystem services will offer useful insights on identifying, quantifying and monetizing the main impacts of recovery measures and it will also contribute to understand the efficacy (in terms of benefits) and effectiveness (in terms of results achieved and expenditure afforded) of conservative measures. A cost-benefit analysis will be provided to value whether to undertake recovery actions on the relevant habitats and it will support the choice of ecosystem management options.
