European Research Council funded fellowship The written heritage of the Muslims of the Horn of Africa: a literary, prosopographical and topographical data base

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The research project aims at producing a data base of the written heritage of the Muslims of the Horn of Africa. Specific attention will be devoted to the almost unknown manuscript tradition of the local Islamic communities. A digital research environment in XML mark-up language will be implemented to help analyzing the data on the authors and the texts. The localization and study of so far neglected or less known manuscript collections originating from the Horn of Africa will be thus among the tasks of the research project. The enhancement of our information on the literature of the Muslims of Northeastern Africa and the use of the most advanced techniques in the field of the e-humanities will allow for the first time ever in the scholarly panorama a detailed description of the Islamic literature in the Horn of Africa and of its authors.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
