The Basilikòs logos between Late Antiquity and Renaissance: the Panegyrici Latini and the Panegyricus ad Philippum Austriae ducem of Erasmus Roterodamus

Please note that the job is no longer active!

In the age of Renaissance, the corpus of Panegyrici Latini enjoyed great fortune: discovered by Giovanni Aurispa in 1433, it experienced a significant spread and became a model and paradigm for encomiastic writings dedicated, with obvious justificative intent and/or with an intent of propaganda, to princes and lords, who demanded a return for the hospitality and the financial support provided to the intellectuals. The research aims to focus attention on the unexplored aspects of the panegyristic genre in the age of Renaissance - especially on the characters of continuity and discontinuity with respect to the ancient tradition of βασιλικòς λόγος as it had concretized in Panegyrici Latini

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
