The purpose of the DANUBE: FUTURE project – approved by the Alps Adriatic Rectors' Conference and by the Danube Initiative – is addressing the “sustainable development” of the Danube Basin and of its neighbouring areas with an interdisciplinary research method.
The human impact on the environment shall be analysed, in order to define new ways to protect the environment and therefore limit the worsening of the environmental conditions. The project can cover a wide range of research fields such as, for instance, hydromorphological changes, pollution, loss of biodiversity, disappearance of fish, climate change; but also fields such as territorial and historical-economic dynamics, preservation of cultural heritage or archaeology.
The project proposals must therefore be aimed at research in the macro sector of sustainable development.
