Marie Curie Actions funded fellowship Optomechanics in a membrane-in-the-middle setup

The goal of the research is to develop an optical cavity with a thin membrane

between the two mirrors at cryogenic temperatures able to reach the quantum

regime. In particular we plan to achieve the quantum ground state of an appropriate vibrational mode of the membrane,demonstrate and detect quantum

entanglement between the resonator and a cavity mode, to exploit bimodal

cooling, and finally to generate ponderomotive squeezing at the cavity output.
