Marie Curie Action COFUND EMBL Interdisciplinary Postdocs (EIPOD)

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) has a strong tradition in promoting interdisciplinary basic research in molecular biology. With eight Research Units at five facilities in four European countries, working on topics ranging from structural to organismal biology and from computational and biophysics to chemical biology, the EMBL is one of the top research institutions in the world. The EMBL interdisciplinary Postdocs (EIPOD) fellowship makes use of this unique international, multidisciplinary research environment to broaden the interdisciplinary education and expertise of postdocs. The fellowships are funded by EMBL and a Marie Curie Actions Cofund Grant from the EU and provide young scientist with three years of secured funding. Successful candidates will pursue interdisciplinary projects, transferring techniques to a new context or connecting scientific fields that are usually separate.

Selection process

The EIPOD programme utilizes a two step selection process. Applications from candidates of interest are evaluated by two members of EMBL faculty. These evaluations as well as the applications themselves are used to generate a shortlist of candidates for interview. Shortlisted candidates are invited to EMBL where they give a talk and are interviewed by a panel composed of members of EMBL faculty as well as external scientists.
