The aim of the research project is the evaluation of the effects of possible climatic changes and human topographical and land use modifications on the morphodynamics of some fluvial basins of Central Italy. This research will be conducted in a wider frame of geomorphological hazard assessment, by means of integrated models which allow to quantify the spatio-temporal variations of denudation intensity and the improvement of several erosion monitoring techniques in some key sites, in order to: 1) studying the catchment connectivity and compute erosion budget; 2) analyzing past and potential variability of erosion effects (also using rainfall simulations); 3) examining the consequences of different land use on the ecosystem, considering both variations on erosion rates and impact on plant communities conservation. Analysis of instability factors will be aimed at the spatial and temporal prevision of geomorphological instability due to possible environmental changes.
