Multidisciplinary methodologies for characterization, assessment of the decay and conservation of stone materials – project FIRB MIUR Marmora Phrygiae

The research will be aimed at: (a) mineralogical and petrographic characterization of marble samples, (b) study of the state of conservation of marble artifacts through micro sampling and use of non-invasive analytical techniques in situ; (c) study of the chemical and physical mechanisms responsible for the phenomena of decay of marbles, (d) development of protocols for the conservative restoration (cleaning and / or consolidation / protection) of marble artifacts,

(e) development of analytical protocols for the detection of traces of color on marble materials, particularly sculptures
