Marie Curie Actions funded fellowship Development and calibration of methods to chart the stellar mass in galaxies based on optical/NIR imaging plus imaging spectroscopy and/or FIR imaging

The fellow will contribute to develop and validate

spectro-photometric methods to determine galaxy stellar masses using

spatially resolved observations. Two possible datasets will be

employed: 1) the CALIFA sample, which provides optical integral field

spectroscopy, complemented by optical and NIR imaging; 2) the KINGFISH

sample, with a panchromatic coverage including the far IR from which

dust properties can be derived. The main goals of the fellowship are:

validate the methods of stellar mass mapping; complete the analysis of

a pilot set of galaxies and provide preliminary calibrations of cheap

photometric stellar mass estimators based on the comprehensive

spatially resolved analysis for different galaxy types.
