Parkinson disease: an integrated study of functional genomic and pathological phenotype

Please note that the job is no longer active!

Parkinson disease (PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative disease in Emilia Romagna elderly population.
The aim of this project is the identification of new genes and new possible therapeutic strategies for PD and neuroprotection.
First of all, a new bioinformatic tool will be used to produce expression chromosomal maps starting from global gene expression profile data obtained by microarray method of PD patients vs controls. This meta-analysis approach will allow us to suppose if there are chromosome regions whose genes have expression pattern consistent with PD and if they could be part of the same network.
Will also be studied pathogenetic mechanisms of neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation in cell culture model of the disease.
Results could help us to realize animal and cell models of PD genotype and phenotype, useful to develop new styrategies in neuroprotection.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
