The aim of this research is to focus on a specific period of European history that has been particularly important in shaping many issues that are presently relevant to our state of affairs. The period under consideration spans approximately 50 years from the 1770s to the 1820s. During this period, it is the contention of this research project, irreversible changes occurred in Europe that are still with us today. The idea of revolutionary transition is suggested to characterize this epoch of deep changes; it refers to the revolutionary outcome that substantially and irreversibly modified the setup of Europe, as well as to the incremental, multidimensional and chronologically differentiated process of change. The post-doc scholar is expected to bring a creative and innovative approach to this set of questions.
