The research project consists in the design and development of a framework for the integration of distributed components to develop the real-time avionics for the control of unmanned aerial vehicles. Beside the avionics implementation, the framework includes an inertial measurement unit integrate with a low-cost GPS receiver and the motor controller for driving the rotors. Each device should be independent in its functionality and it should be possible to integrate them into the system by using and high level programming environment. The devices should respect power consumption and weight constraints, and they should be low-cost and real-time. The overall avionics should allow the implementation of real-time tasks for stability control and autonomous navigation of the unmanned vehicle.
