The research aims to study a new system for motor rehabilitation of the upper limbs based on haptic technology. The aim of the system is to improve motor function of the arm and hand, reducing the effects of diseases or accidents that have caused defects or lesions in the central nervous system, and allowing patients to perform the exercises independently, remotely and monitored, stimulating and increasing their involvement on the basis of the progress achieved. The research program should include the development of a device based on haptic force feedback technology, to support the execution of pre-defined and controlled movements with particular attention to ergonomics, and an interactive environment based on Virtual Reality technologies for the introduction of entertainment aspects that make the exercises more enjoyable, stimulating and motivating for patients.
