The research activity of the post-doc will be primarily devoted to the calibration, as a function of age and metallicity, of the critical processes that characterize the TP-AGB phase, i.e. efficiency of mass loss and third dredge-up. This will be accomplished by adopting suitable statistical techniques to compare theoretical predictions (based on new stellar models and population synthesis simulations) with large samples of AGB stars observed with HST in nearby galaxies (ANGST, PHAT surveys, and archival data).
