Biological and cultural heritage of the central-southern Italian population trough 30 thousand years. EPIC (Eredità della Popolazione dell'Italia Centro-meridionale)

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The proposed project aims to point out, through a multidisciplinary approach, genetic and nutritional modifications and mobility of the inhabitants of the central-southern Italy, connected to changes in life styles and economic systems, using the new inference power of biomolecular analysis in bioarchaeological records. This way, it will be possibly able to address questions for which no answer was previously provided by traditional methodologies, at the synchronic and diachronic levels. The aim will be reached using specimens ranging from the Upper Paleolithic to the present, with an emphasis on the Copper Age. The Research will unite well-developed biomolecular methods to address the project objectives; it will devote special care to genomic DNA recovery and analysis through standard ancient mitochondrial DNA sequencing and Next Generation Sequencing on nuclear (both autosomal and Y-chromosome) DNA of a sub-set of the human remains collected from the archaeological sites.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
