Electronic trasport properties of conducting polymers for bioelectronic applications

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The goal of this research project is the study and the characterization of conducting polymers finalized to their application as bio-sensors that take advantage of the peculiar properties of this class of materials: biocompatibility, capability of adsorbing and releasing biochemical compounds and molecules, mixed ionic and electronic charge transport. The focus will be on PEDOT, presently the more promising polymer for such applications thanks to its high oxidative stability and high electrical conductivity. Since this research area is quite new, the basic physical, chemical and biologic mechanisms underlying the interaction between living cells and bioelectronics devices are still an open field of investigation and debate. Analogously, the physical processes that control the conversion between ionic and electronic signals occurring within the active polymer and the role of surface morphology, chemical redox state and potential, still need to be addresses and identified

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
