http://www.unimib.it/link/news.jsp?8794866857516093924 Tissue regionality, representing focal response to alteration in endothelial permeability, will be depicted on the basis of the preliminary information acquired from the imaging study, parallel to this part of the project. In these terms, from the same lung we will discriminate areas where the water balance is maintained from areas where this balance is lost. The same regionality will be studied also in normoxic lungs. The candidate will investigate on separate specimens the expression level of proteins that potentially influence the control the microvascular permeability. In particular we will focus on HIF-1, KGF, MMP-2, CAV-1, NADPH oxidase, is the major source of ROS in the vessel wall,PGC-1alpha, eNOS, VEGF, ET-1. Moreover, ROS and NO are known to be significant mediators of the permeability responses, thus we will quantify their amount in the different lung areas.
