The aim of this present project is the design, execution and the evaluation of a randomized controlled trials on a multimodal intervention for stroke patients. The most innovative aspect of this project is the investigation of the neurophysiological adaptations induced by the multimodal training both at spinal and supraspinal level. The increase of knowledge gained throughout the project on the relationship between spinal and supraspinal plasticity and functional motor recovery is a major challenge for stroke rehabilitation. The non-invasive diagnostic methodology implemented and used to evaluate the CNS pathways altered by training might have fallouts in customizing therapies enhancing motor relearning also for neurological pathologies other than stroke.
