Carcinoma of the oral cavity is the fifth most common cancer in the world for effect and, although many therapeutic strategies have been put in place, the percentage of five-year survival remains low. In this sense the elimination of risk factors, diagnosis and early treatment of potentially malignant epithelial disorders (PMED) is essential in order to help prevent their transformation in dysplastic sense. In this study, particular attention will turn to the homogeneous and non-homogeneous leukoplakia, two common PMED that can develop into squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity. The removal of these lesions can be done by surgical excision or laser surgery (excision or vaporization). Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a therapeutic option bloodless, based on the use of two components not toxic, the light and the photosensitizer, which cooperate for the elimination of neoplastic cells or potentially.
