European Research Council funded fellowship Assessment of the effects of seawater warming and acidification on population dynamics of Mediterranean marine organisms

Please note that the job is no longer active!

Scientific diving, biometric, cytometric, densitometric, respirometric, fluorometric, spectrometric, diffractometric, microscopic and nanoindentation techniques will be used in conjunction with growth and population dynamics models to test the relative sensitivity to seawater warming and acidification in animal, algal and plant Mediterranean marine taxa. Calcifying and/or photosynthetic organisms will be used as models to test the response to temperature and pH both along natural field gradients of the considered environmental parameters and in controlled aquarium experiments. The test hypotheses will be: 1) phototrophic non-calcifying organisms will decrease their relative ecological abundance, 2) phototrophic calcifying organism will remain at the equilibrium, 3) calcifying non-phototrophic organisms will decrease their relative ecological abundance. Research will be performed through intradipartimental, interdipartimental and international collaborations.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
