Marie Curie Actions funded fellowship Cavity optomechanics in the strong coupling limit

Mainly theoretical research work focused on the study of the radiation pressure

interaction of a high-finesse multimode optical cavity with a thin dielectric

membrane inside and its possible variations. Then extension of such analysis to

generic dielectric nanomechanical systems coupled to optical modes not only by

radiation pressure, but also through the dipole gradient force, will be carried out.

The performance of the various optomechanical schemes for the realization of

quantum states of nanomechanical degrees of freedom (ground state, entangled

states) will be analyzed, paying also attention to its potential for measurements

below the standard quantum limit.
