The research goals are guidance, navigation and control of space vehicles, under different conditions from landing to Earth orbit. The research stems from a decennial program which has been progressively focused under different space missions and objectives, from planetary landing (EXOMARS, STEPS) to satellite formations for Earth exploration (Next generation gravity monitoring).
Several studies ending into simulation packages, control algorithms and code have been developed for the different entry and landing phases as well as for formation control. Currently the research will focus on the terminal phase for pinpoint landing and on the low Earth orbit satellite formation. In parallel, the use of mini-aircrafts for testing algorithms. Control architectures and methodologies refer to Embedded Model Control.
