The Craftsman. History and current meaning of a social feature in Modena and in Emilia

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The project aims to focus on a theme that runs through different disciplines and that comes as a matter of great relevance in the current social context. The object of research is the theme of craftsmanship, not as a specific condition of employment but as a state of cognitive and practical attitude, as a combination of knowledge and practice that goes beyond specific sectors of application and which can be found, beyond the field of the craftmanship in a strict sense, in different areas of activity: manual work, cognitive work, etc. Starting from the life story of the former mayor of Modena Mario Del Monte, who came to this role after years of activity as skilled worker, it is therefore to capture the key features of a social figure which, in its historical phase of major expansion, is at the basis of a social model such as that one established in Emilia and to inquiry its transformations and its (possible) functional equivalents in the current context.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
