Research on anisotropic shell structures - unified formulation and numerical analysis

The aim of this project is to develop the theory of shell structures and formulate a unified formulation with curvature effect, that it has not been done in literature yet. The project intends to analyze laminated shells, made of isotropic, functionally graded, orthotropic, anisotropic materials. In this context, the analytical and numerical applications of the differential quadrature method to shell theory will be carried out. Finite element codes will be also used in order to verify and study the accuracy of the implemented theory. Secondly, the knowledge on the finite element modeling will be looked into. Furthermore advanced differential quadrature methods will be introduced to implement shell models within discontinuities.
