The project’s overall objective is to understand how people create a representation of individual people and objects as opposed to object ‘kinds’. A particular focus of the project is to understand the role of object domain and expertise in creating such representations. The fellow’s task will be to develop a series of behavioral and neuroimaging (fMRI) experiments designed to determine the perceptual and cognitive processes involved in generalizing across specific visual instances to a particular individual person/object.
