PhD Position in genetics of high altitude adaptation

An exciting opportunity for a PhD student has arisen in the areas of population genetics and human adaptation to high altitude environments. This project is funded by Science Foundation Ireland.

Hypoxia is central to numerous diseases of public health importance. A reduction in systemic oxygen availability is a fundamental consequence of diverse diseases of adulthood including smoking-related lung disease, cystic fibrosis and stroke, as well as of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome.
