The research program is focused on the preparation and development of a laboratory devoted to the study of graphene and nanocomposites with polymer matrix loaded with graphene or graphene-based fillers. In particular, the laboratory will have to be equipped with instruments for the structural, morphological, mechanical, electrical and thermal characterization of graphene and of nanocomposites by means of Raman spectroscopy, electrical and thermal measurements, SEM, AFM microscopy etc. A preliminary study by Raman spectroscopy and electrical measurements will then be performed on nanocomposites prepared at DISAT. The research program is furthermore focused on the realization of field-effect experiments on multilayer graphene devices by means of the polymer gating technique in order to modify the carrier density and possibly observe, at cryogenic temperatures, the occurrence of superconductivity.
