Fellowship posted by Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (03/04/2013 03.23)

European Research Council funded fellowship Use of fixation-related potentials to study the influence of saccades on spatial and temporal windows

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The project’s overall objective is to understand the construction of the perception of objects and events in space and time. The fellow’s task will be to develop a series of experiments using eye-tracking together with EEG and MEG. In particular the candidate should create a system to measure fixation-related evoked potentials (fERP) with a fixed gaze and after a saccadic eye movement. The fellow will implement and test a series of fERP experiments with visual stimuli and eventually even with auditory and tactile ones. Besides designing and running experiments, the fellow will carry out advanced analysis of the EEG/MEG (fREP, time frequency analysis) and eye-tracking data, and collaborate with other members of the group in the collection of the required data itself. Thus strong collaboration with the rest of the CoPest group is necessary

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!

Eligibility criteria

a)a Ph.D. in psychology, cognitive neuroscience or related discipline is requested, awarded by an Italian university or a formally recognised foreign university;

b)appropriate scientific and professional experience required to carry out the research described in article 1, i.e. documented experience (at least one published article on eye movements or on the analysis of EEG data);

c)excellent experience (documented by at least one publication in a peer-reviewed journal) in cognitive neuroscience in the field of visual perception;

d)advanced programming experience with Matlab and ability to carry out data analysis independently;

e)excellent English language skills.

Selection process

The selection procedure will consist in verifying each candidate’s previous education, experience and approach to research, and in making a comparative assessment of all candidates’ research profiles, scientific/professional curricula and qualifications.
