The Eastern Partnership of European Union, signed in 2008 with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, is part of the European Neighbourhood Policy, which offers neighbouring countries an enhancement of preferential trade agreements, an involvement in the internal market of European Union, the opportunity to participate in some EU programs and a greater financial and technical assistance. Georgia, in particular, for its strategic position and the potential attractiveness of its territory, both in terms of foreign direct investment and of tourist flows, could soon become an important reality from economic, commercial and cultural points of view. The aim of the research is to analyze, with the methods of Political and Economic Geography, the future developments of the Eastern Partnership with particular reference to the case of Georgia and the possible implications for European Union, Italy and Abruzzo.
