Epigenetic modulation of eating disorders and obesity: searching for new pharmacotherapies

The significance of epigenetic mechanisms in the progression of eating disorders (ED) and obesity in animal models. The following animal models will be adopted:

binge eating model based on cycles of food restrictions/refeeding and stress; a model of yohimbine-induced relapse of high fat food seeking; a model of diet induced obesity.

In collaboration with a specialized laboratory in epigenetic studies, to identify how, where and which epigenetic modifications may take place and may account for diseases progression in the different animal models.

To identify new medications with potential in the treatment of ED and obesity and that could be rapidly moved into clinic.
