Gravity induced models of spontaneous wave function collapse

The first goal is to analyze the Schrödinger-Newton equation and the Diosi-Penrose collapse equation. They both have deficiencies, which compromise their significance as fundamental equations. Other ideas of relating the collapse of he wave function to gravitational effects will also be analyzed. A report will be written on this issue. The second goal is to write a new equation of gravity-induce collapse, which overcomes the problems with the previous models. Adding a short-range cutoff, adding dissipative effects to the dynamics, replacing the white-noise field with a colored noise field are possible paths to explore. The third goal is to compare the predictions of the new model against those of standard quantum mechanics. In particular, computations will be done with reference to matter-wave experiments. When possible, the equations will be solved exactly, otherwise approximate/numerical schemes will be employed.
