Lifelong premature ejaculation (LL-PE) is a “male sexual dysfunction characterized by ejaculation which always or nearly always occurs before or within about one minute of vaginal penetration”. The measurement of peripheral vasodilator response with a fingertip pulse amplitude tonometry (PAT) device is a useful method for assessing vascular function and may be blunted by the presence of sympathetic overtone. Aim of the research will be to investigate the PAT response in men with LL-PE as a possible marker of sympathetic overtone, compared with age-matched controls. Then, in a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study, the effects of on-demand vardenafil 10 mg on PAT ratios and intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT), and it’s effects on Stai-X1 for state-anxiety and Stai-X2 for trait-anxiety will be investigated.
