To apply http://www.unige.it/concorsi/assricerca/ The project aims to develop novel experimental techniques which allow the nano- and micro-scale in vitro characterization of the mechano-electrical properties of single cells and engineered tissue constructs. The work will be based on the specialization and integration of different existing techniques such as atomic force microscopy, electrophysiological measurements via micro- and nano-electrodes, cell patterning, and electro-actuated membranes capable to apply controlled deformations to cells and tissues in culture. The integrated techniques will be employed to study the molecular mechanisms responsible for the contraction-excitation coupling and the mechano-electric feedback which regulates the physiology of both scheletal and cardiac muscle fibres and are responsible for pathologies such as dystrophies and arrhythmias.
