Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle in old age: the potential relevance of proactive coping strategies

Please note that the job is no longer active!

Referring to the model of successful aging based on proactivity (Kahana & Kahana, 2003) which highlights the centrality of proactive adaptations for effective management of resources, the research aims to investigate the role of proactive coping strategies (Aspinwall & Taylor, 1997; Schwarzer & Taubert, 2002) in adopting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle in older people. Proactive coping is defined as a set of strategies aimed to prevent the onset of critical and stressful situations.
The study consists of two parts, the former with a correlational design, the latter experimental in nature. The experimental study will confirm the causal influence of proactive coping strategies on the adoption and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle in old age.
The results could provide information and concrete guidance to those (eg. health psychologists, practitioners, political institutions) involved in the promotion of health and prevention of diseases and frailty in the third and fourth age.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
